One day surfing Alaska

A crew from the Get in the Van surf project headed up to film in Alaska. The following pictures were taken in one day and highlight the varied and unique experience that is Alaska surfing. One of the blessings of living here is getting to host various groups that come through and they leave always having been blown away by the grandeur of God's creation.

Joe Carter, filmmaker and head of the project setting up to film amongst
a winter's worth of driftwood.
Ben McBrien giving a preview, backside at full throttle.
Wheelers are the best way to access the varied surf around here.
Graveyards looking appealing but too small, time to check around the corner.
Sea lion about to bodysurf another Pt. Carew wave.
Pros from the East Coast Billy Hume, Ben McBrien and Jeff Myers looking pretty comfortable on the shore. They were up in Alaska to shoot the sequel to the surf film Get in the Van.

The boys checking out Ben alone in the lineup with the sea lions.

Ben paddled out solo with a broken off center fin but still ripped off a nice cutty.
Sea lions harassing a baby grey whale, not the most comforting sight in the lineup.
Ben and Nick check out a brown bear at the Ankau River
on the way back from surfing.
The sun sets over Monti Bay, bringing to a close another surfing day in Alaska.
